Full-Time Positions
BILINGUAL LIBRARY SPECIALIST – Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time, 40-hourweek Library Assistant interested in serving a diverse community at the Dee Brown Library (6325 Baseline Rd, Little Rock, AR 72209). Candidate should be energetic, customer service oriented, fluent in Spanish, able to translate documents from English to Spanish and assist at Latinx community events. Essential duties include working the public service desk, answering patron questions, managing the branch holds, and performing a variety of day-to-day tasks. Familiarity with technology, digital media, ability to do instructional assistance on devices, and excellent communication and customer service skills are required. Applicants must be willing to become a Notary Public and be available to work some evenings and every other Saturday. CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMER – Full-time (40 hour/week). Thompson Library (38 Rahling Cir, Little Rock, AR 72223) is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Children’s Programmer to lead and coordinate children’s activities both in the library and out in the community. Responsibilities include planning, promoting, and implementing engaging, age-appropriate activities for children and families. The ideal candidate should be outgoing, creative and love working with kids of all ages. Activities include story time, crafting, afterschool events, and other creative endeavors. This job also involves introducing and suggesting books and authors that promote literacy to families, as well as assisting with day-to-day tasks performed by library staff, including the willingness to enforce rules of conduct. Must be comfortable working with the public, children and teens, and providing friendly and professional assistance to a diverse community. The schedule includes working every other Saturday. SKILLED RENOVATION TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full time (40 hours/week) skilled renovation technician with painting/carpentry/drywall skills, capable of performing small remodel jobs, to maintain/repair 19 public library facilities. High school diploma or equivalent, valid AR driver’s license with clean driving record, 5 years construction experience, and knowledge of a specialized field or combination of equivalent education and experience. Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 70 lbs., push, pull, and squat. Basic computer skills, detail oriented, and the ability to work in a team-oriented, task sharing environment is essential. Other duties as assigned. Pay starts at $19.00 and includes excellent benefits, such as medical, dental, vision, company paid pension, life insurance, paid time off, and holiday pay. LIBRARY CLERK – Part-time 20 hours/week public service position at the Terry Library (2015 Napa Valley Dr, Little Rock, AR 72212). Seeking energetic, customer service-oriented applicant with exceptional sorting ability, great attention to detail, and communication skills. Essential duties include shelving items, shelf reading, emptying book bins, working the circulation desk, and answering patron questions. Must be able to stand for long periods, push and pull at least 50 lbs., lift, and squat. Must be able to work Monday evenings and every other Saturday. The pay is $15.00 per hour. Experience with children and teens a plus. Must be able to work M, T, Th, F & Sa 11a – 3p.
